Conwy Butterfly Jungle is located just outside the walls of the beautiful medieval town of Conwy . The Jungle can easily be reached on foot from the centre of Conwy or by car, and is located close to the County Council offices at Bodlondeb. By car take the Conwy turn off from the A55 expressway and proceed through the town centre. After exiting the walls there is a sign around 200 yards further on and a turning in the Bodlondeb estate. Follow the road round until reaching a car park to the rear of the Council offices. The Jungle is a short walk away. On foot follow Castle Street away from the castle. Pass through the town walls and then follow Marine Walk for about 3 minutes. You will then reach the Jungle.
The Conwy Butterfly Jungle can be enjoyed whatever the weather. The 2000sq ft greenhouse is home to some of the world's most exotic butterfly's which fly freely as you walk around. There are over 300 butterfly's within the jungle covering many different species. Because you walk amongst the butterfly's you can get extremely close to them for taking pictures. Just remember to try not to touch them.
As well as the many exotic butterfly species the Conwy Butterfly Jungle is also home to a number of spiders including tarantula's and other insects such as stick insects and millipedes. Watch out for the hissing cockroach!
The staff are very helpful and are happy to answer questions or point out interesting facts such as where to find the caterpillars or the different behaviours of the butterfly species.
Inside the jungle is very humid so the pinic area outside is a welcome relief. Snacks and ice creams are available from the gift shop which also stocks a small number of postcards and pictures to take home as souveniers.
